The Story Behind The Song

Ka Na Da Kyau

Some songs are born out of inspiration; others emerge from deeply personal encounters with God. Ka Na Da Kyau is one of such songs for me.

The song traces its origin to a particularly difficult period following my father’s demise. Beyond the grief of losing him, my family and I encountered unexpected opposition from people we never imagined would stand against us. It was a challenging season, one that tested our faith, resilience and resolve.

In the midst of it all, we chose to turn to God. We prayed, fasted, praised and continued to trust Him, even when circumstances offered little clarity. We depended entirely on His grace, and He remained faithful. He sustained us and brought us through what, at the time, seemed overwhelming.

However, the journey did not end there. On our way back, an extraordinary and seemingly divine diversion led us onto an unfamiliar route. Under ordinary circumstances, such an unexpected turn could have provoked considerable anxiety and uncertainty. Yet, rather than becoming a source of worry, it marked the beginning of something remarkable. That moment birthed several things whose significance will become clearer as time unfolds.

It was during this journey that Ka Na Da Kyau was birthed.

In retrospect, the song represents more than a musical expression. It is a response to God’s faithfulness through grief, difficult relationships, uncertainty and unexpected turns. It is an acknowledgement that beyond life’s circumstances, God remains sovereign, beautiful and worthy of our worship.

THE LYRICAL EXPRESSION
Verse

Sama da kasa sun durkusa,
Malaiku sun runsuna,
Yesu, kai ne mai kyau,
Mun zo mu durkusa,
Kuma mun zo mu rusuna,
Gaskiya, kana da kyau.

English translation:

Heaven and earth bow down,
The angels worship in reverence,
Jesus, You are beautiful,
We have come to bow before You,
We have come to worship You,
Truly, You are beautiful.

Chorus

Karbi yabo, karbi daukaka,
Karbi godiya, mun baka sujada.

English translation:

Receive our praise, receive the glory,
Receive our thanksgiving; we offer You our worship.

Vamp

Gaskiya, Gaskiya, Gaskiya kana da kyau.

English translation:

Truly, truly, truly, You are beautiful.

The lyrics reflect the central conviction behind the song: God’s majesty is beyond description, His faithfulness is worthy of remembrance, and His beauty transcends every human experience.

As part of the CONNEKTED album, Ka Na Da Kyau is an invitation to a deeper consciousness of God’s presence and an expression of wholehearted worship.

My prayer is that everyone who encounters this song will find a reason to acknowledge God’s goodness, regardless of the season they are navigating.

What began in a season of grief and uncertainty became an expression of worship. What seemed like an unexpected diversion became the beginning of a greater unfolding. And through it all, one truth remained constant: Gaskiya, kana da kyau — Truly, Lord, You are beautiful.
